Hi Church Family,

Last Sunday, we celebrated Easter in remembrance of God raising His Son Jesus from the dead.  Many people may have heard the gospel for the first time and gladly responded to the invitation.  Praise God for those who got saved! Jesus commanded the disciples to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).  Because of their obedience, the gospel is known throughout most of the world, and many have professed Christ as Lord and Savior. But can someone say he or she believes in Jesus and continue living like the world? This Sunday, in my message “Can You Have Faith Without Obedience?”,  we will look at THE RICH YOUNG RULER in Matthew 19:16-30.

Hi Church Family,

Last week, we learned of the eternal regret of the rich man who did not obey God’s Word. This Sunday, we will celebrate Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem on a colt and was greeted by the people shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!  Hosanna in the highest!” Some laid down their cloaks and others laid down cut branches from palm trees. If Jesus announced He was coming to your home, would you give Him the same greeting? This Sunday, in my message, “Would Jesus be Welcome in Your Home?”, we will look at the PARABLE OF THE TWO SONS in Matthew 21:28-32.

See you Sunday!

Hi Church Family,

We are two weeks away from celebrating the day God the Father raised our Savior from the dead.

Jesus often told the disciples about His impending death and resurrection from the dead. He told them why it was necessary and reassured them it wasn’t the end. However, imagine being told your teacher & Rabbi, with whom you have been for three years and for whom you have given up everything, is going to be killed. How would you respond?

If Jesus didn’t go to the cross, there would be no forgiveness of sins and no reconciliation with God. If Jesus had not been raised from the dead, there would be no hope of eternal life, and His sacrifice would have been in vain. BUT HE DID DIE ON THE CROSS AND WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD!

As you think about whether to have ham or turkey and whom to invite to dinner on Easter, please reflect on how grateful you are for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. How do you feel about His resurrection from the dead? Does it change the way you look at life?

On Sunday, April 13th, we will remember Palm Sunday, commemorating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where people welcomed Him with palm branches. Palms will be available for you to take home.

On Good Friday, April 18th, we will remember our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross by having an evening service at 6:00 PM. Our focus will be on the holy week events leading to His death on the cross. Volunteers are needed for various readings. Please let Pastor Bob or myself know if you are interested.

On Easter Sunday, April 20th, we will have a sunrise service at 5:30 AM across from DeFazio’s Orchard, 1393 North Rd., Dayville, CT 06241. A sign will be posted on the roadway where we will gather. We will also have a morning service at 10:30 AM at the Church.

Most people attend a church for the first time, because they receive an invitation. Now is a good time to invite family and friends who don’t know Jesus to join us in worship!

We look forward to spending Good Friday and Easter with you.

Hi Church Family,

Last week, we learned how Simon the Leper scorned the uninvited woman who came to a party which he had given for Jesus. She went to Jesus’ feet and began to wash them with her tears.  She did this to show her love for Him and her remorse over her sins, which she believed He could forgive. Jesus forgave her because of her saving faith in Him. What about those who don’t know Christ as their Lord and Savior when they die? What becomes of them? Sunday, we will look at the story of Lazarus and the rich man, as told in Luke 16:19-31 and how each man’s actions or inactions carried over into eternity.

See you Sunday!

Have you ever wondered what saving faith looks like? The Bible gives many personal examples of individuals who displayed it. What did they possess that made them stand out from the rest? This Sunday in my message, "Saving Faith,” we will talk about an individual about whom Jesus said,  "...wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”  See you Sunday!

Is Jesus weeping over us? Certainly something to ponder. Why? Because the Jewish people do not understand the reason for Jesus’ coming. Do we fully understand why He came? Do we understand where our salvation comes from?

Come this Sunday to learn more about Luke 19:41-44 and how it applies to us.

Last week we learned through Scripture that Jesus took the Bible literally and so should we.  But does the way we live reflect it?  Would our friends be surprised to know we are Christians?  Even more, does our family know and, if so, are they convinced we are the “real deal”?  What about our gratitude for the sacrifice made by our Lord and Savior on the cross for us?  Does our personal time reflect it?  Character isn’t a reflection of what people do in front of others, but rather, what they do when no one else is around.  In my sermon this Sunday, “God sees the Real You,” we will examine how the Bible views those private actions. See you Sunday!

A question often asked is, “Should we take the Bible literally?” Many have said the Bible is a book of stories that is relevant for some, but not for all. Others claim it contradicts itself and should not be taken seriously. However, God speaks to us through His word, the Bible, to guide us in every aspect of our lives; it tells us how to live according to His word, how to worship Him, how to make our needs known to Him through prayer, and, most importantly, how to love one another as Jesus loves us. This Sunday, I’ll address this question with Scripture, so a believer can be sure of the answer and know why it is so important to do so. See you Sunday!

We celebrate Advent as a symbol of the light of God coming into the world through the birth of Jesus.

We light a candle on the Advent wreath, each Sunday, to represent 4 things that we are praying for: hope, peace, joy, and love. On Christmas Eve, we light the center candle that represents the Christ child being born.

Come and join us each Sunday, as we light these candles and celebrate anew the birth of Jesus, who is our hope and salvation.

Here is a thought on Thanksgiving.

Each Thanksgiving we stop and give thanks for the bounty of the harvest and thank God for all the blessings of life. We highlight having dinner with family; watching NFL football; and how to deal with Black Friday. But what if Thanksgiving is more than this?

What if it is more than spending dinner together? What if it is more than football or planning for Black Friday? What if it is about thanking God for all the blessing in our lives and for the people who have helped to shape us to be who we are today?

What if it’s about giving thanks with a grateful heart? For the Holy One? For giving us His Son Jesus? Certainly something to think about.

Happy Thanksgiving!
